the Vinyl Vault & Fine Antiques

Our shop carries a variety of antiques, collectibles, hand-crafted furniture, pop culture memorabilia, as well as art, cards, and jewelry by area artists.

The Vinyl Vault is the region’s only dedicated shop for vinyl records. Classic LPs and records by contemporary artists arrive in the Vault each week. Start or grow your record collection here!

Washburn Area Museum

The Washburn Area Museum is a volunteer-run museum organized independently by the Washburn Area Historical Society and is located on our second floor. Its collection includes dioramas, photographs, and artifacts depicting the people and industries that shaped Washburn. The museum is open seasonally, and its hours of operation may differ from the Cultural Center's.

The Washburn Cultural Center encourages the use of our third-floor space for arts- and culture-focused workshops and classes, as well as exhibits, meetings, receptions, and other events.

ABOUT THE WASHBURN CULTURAL CENTER

WCC serves as an artistic, cultural, and educational resource for the Washburn and Chequamegon Bay region. We are committed to preserving and maintaining our historic building as a relevant and sustainable community gathering place.

The WCC building houses art galleries, an antiques shop, the Vinyl Vault, and workshop/community-gathering space; as well as the Washburn Area Historical Museum, run independently by the Washburn Area Historical Society.

Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are open to all who desire to participate in the preservation of our historic brownstone building and the rich heritage of the area. We encourage the use of our building for meetings, receptions, classes, exhibits, workshops and other events.

About Our Building

Washburn’s unique story is preserved and housed in a magnificent brownstone structure known as “The Old Bank Building.”

Built in 1890 by A. C. Probert, it is listed on both State and National Registers of Historic Places. Restoration of our facility was started in late 1991, and a grand opening celebration in the summer of 1993 marked our “official” beginning. 2007 marked another milestone when we replaced the original 117 year old roof with a new one that is historically and architecturally appropriate.
