Reception: March 2, 5-7 PM

Open Mic Night: March 9, 6-7:30 PM

The Chequamegon Bay Arts Council (CBAC) returns to the Cultural Center’s galleries for their annual spring show. This year’s exhibition, entitled Listening In: The Earth is Speaking, features work in variety of mediums by area artists in response to this theme.

Listening in, what do we hear from the four legged, the winged one, the water dwellers, the crawlers with no legs and the two legged among us? What do the rocks and waters want us to know? Of what do the plants speak? What can we learn about how each is affected by the environmental challenges faced by the earth and earthlings? How can we, then, give voice, or image, or movement, or music, to make that information accessible to a human audience? Look for more exhibit details to come.

What ma’iingan (Brother Wolf) is telling us is to put into practice the art of listening. What happens to the wolf happens to humanity. That is universal law. The ecosystem is all connected. I believe ma’iingan is saying, Pay attention.
