RITA VANDERVENTER & RABBETT BEFORE HORSES STRICKLAND: Recent Works (August 3–29) — Virtual Exhibition

RITA VANDERVENTER & RABBETT BEFORE HORSES STRICKLAND
Recent Works

August 3–29, 2021

This month, visit the Cultural Center to view recent work by Rita Vanderventer and Rabbett Before Horses Strickland. Vanderventer’s 30+ acrylic paintings and mixed media work depict local and exotic wildlife, Ojibwe imagery, and haunting landscapes. This exhibition of Strickland’s recent (2019–2021) large-scale oil paintings features works displayed for the first time, including the very recently completed 12’ x 7’ Birth of a New World, and preparatory drawings that help to contextualize his process.

Reproductions and cards of Strickland’s works and Vanderventer’s birch bark ornaments and beaded earrings are available in our shop! The Washburn Cultural Center’s galleries, antiques shop, and Vinyl Vault are open every Tuesday–Sunday from 12pm–4pm, and the historical museum is open Fridays/Saturdays during open hours.
